FAQs

Straight answers about hazardous cleanup and abatement in Indiana.

If you don't see your question here, call HazMit — we'd rather answer it than leave you guessing.

What types of hazardous cleanup do you handle?

HazMit handles avian waste cleaning and prevention, sharps container collection and disposal coordination, asbestos abatement and inspections, lead abatement and inspections, mold abatement and inspections, and hazardous cleanouts. Specialty and biohazard-related cleanup is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Do you serve Indianapolis and Southern Indiana?

Yes. We are based in Indianapolis and regularly serve Central and Southern Indiana, including Bloomington, Columbus, Greenwood, Franklin, Martinsville, Seymour, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Evansville, Terre Haute, Bedford, and Shelbyville. Coverage may vary by project type and scope.

Do you offer inspections before abatement?

Yes. For asbestos, lead, and mold, we typically recommend inspection and assessment before abatement so scope, containment, and disposal can be planned and documented properly.

Can you remove bird droppings and install prevention materials?

Yes. We handle avian waste cleanup and decontamination and install bird prevention materials such as exclusion netting, spikes, and roost deterrents. In many cases cleanup and prevention are scoped together.

Do you handle sharps container collection?

Yes. We provide scheduled or on-request sharps container collection and coordinate compliant disposal for facilities, property managers, and contractors.

What should I do if I suspect asbestos, lead, or mold?

Don't disturb the material. Call HazMit and describe what you're seeing. In most cases we'll recommend an inspection or assessment as a first step so any abatement is planned around confirmed findings.

Are all hazardous cleanouts quoted the same way?

No. Hazardous cleanouts are quoted on a case-by-case basis because conditions and disposal requirements vary significantly. That's why we walk the site first and price against what's actually there.

Do you work with commercial and residential properties?

We primarily serve commercial, industrial, property management, municipal, and institutional clients. Residential projects are accepted on a case-by-case basis depending on scope and site conditions.

How quickly can HazMit respond?

Planned work is typically scheduled within days. Urgent situations are handled based on availability and scope. Give us a call so we can screen the situation and give you a real answer.

Do you provide documentation?

Yes. Documentation-focused operations are part of how we work. Records and photos appropriate to the project are provided so there's a clear paper trail.

Ready to scope your project?
